To sustain the planned growth in the power sector, the industry needs highly trained human capital. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering contributes directly to this need by producing skilled technology leaders and pursuing a steadfast goal of excellence in technical education. Established in 2004, the department was originally affiliated with Kerala University until 2015, when it transitioned to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU).
The most important asset of the department is its team of young, dynamic, and dedicated faculty members. Well-qualified to guide the next generation of engineers, all faculty members possess Master’s degrees in various specialized fields of electrical engineering.
Students are provided ample opportunities to gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the most modern instruments. Our core facilities include:
Additionally, the department provides robust facilities for computer simulation and virtual experimentation, utilizing the latest software such as MATLAB, MiPower, AutoCAD Electrical, and PSIM. Final-year students are given comprehensive infrastructural support to carry out their capstone projects and explore advanced technological innovations. To ensure graduates are prepared for the real world, the department maintains strong ties with industry leaders. By organizing expert talks, seminars, colloquia, and workshops, the department helps students understand the future challenges and expectations of the corporate landscape. Furthermore, under the auspices of the IEEE student chapter, the department organizes numerous academic and co-curricular activities designed to develop competitive skills, leadership qualities, and unwavering confidence in every student.
