Established in 2004, the department was originally affiliated with Kerala University until 2015, when it transitioned to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU).

Abdul Kalam Technological University(KTU), Trivandrum, Govt. of Kerala, & Approved by AICTE, New Delhi. College Campus is situated at 25.5 acres of beautiful hill area surrounded by heavy greenery, which supplies an abundance of Fresh Oxygen and a cool climate. TEC was Nearly two thousand students had been studying here in both U.G. & P.G. Courses. Around 60 numbers of alumni of TEC are currently employed in higher designations in various departments of government & semi-government organizations, and more than 1000 alumni are employed in various private and government-aided organizations.
